Lilly Software Announces Two Retail Distribution Installations
Value, Breadth of Function Keys to VISUAL Distribution Product Sale
Hampton, NH, 1 February, 2000 - Lilly Software announces two important sales of its VISUAL Distribution product line. The Swan Corporation, a wholesale distributor to the kitchen and bath industry, and Ginsburg Brothers, a wholesale distributor to grocery chains, have purchased Lilly's VISUAL Distribution Center Management System™ (VISUAL DCMS™).
VISUAL DCMS is a complete RF-enabled warehouse management system (WMS) offered as part of a total suite of powerful, functionally rich, distribution modules from Lilly Software. According to Stanley Chew, Lilly's VP of its Distribution product line, the company designed VISUAL DCMS to go beyond classic warehouse management. "A retail chain has dozens of suppliers in its phonebook. Those suppliers compete not just with product, but with response, delivery, and customized services. So for companies like Swan and Ginsburg, their Distribution Center can make the difference in winning a contract."
Ginsburg Brothers of Billerica, MA, noted both breadth of functionality, and ease of use in its purchase of VISUAL DCMS. Ginsburg Brothers is a re-distributor of packaging products for the grocery industry, which demands quick and efficient turnaround. Ginsburg supplies such high-level New England grocers as Hannaford Brothers. Ginsburg Brothers purchased a 15 RF user VISUAL DCMS installation for its 60,000 ft2 distribution center. VISUAL DCMS uses advanced RF technology in a point-of-work mode to create highly efficient, system-directed tasking and real-time updating of the database.
Swan of St Louis, Mo., manufactures and distributes kitchen and bath products to plumbing distributors and such high-end retailers as Home Depot and Lowes. Swan purchased VISUAL DCMS with eight radio frequency (RF) devices for its 40,000 ft2 distribution center (now being renovated to 130,000 ft2).. "Swan was particularly impressed with VISUAL DCMS' breadth of function," said Chew. "VISUAL DCMS offered more end-to-end function than they saw in any other product in their price range."
VISUAL DCMS is a complete execution-based WMS that uses real-time data collection and relational database technology to manage inventory throughout the entire distribution cycle. VISUAL DCMS provides enhanced warehousing functions such as
Work-flow and Labor Optimization
- Quick Response,
- Work In Progress,
- Value Added Services,
- Customer Compliance Labeling,
- and Advance Shipping Notice/Electronic Data Exchange (ASN/EDI).
