NASA Purchases Lilly Software's ERP, APS, Quality Offerings for Space Programs
25 May 99: Hampton, NH - "This is not just a prestigious sale, but a challenge to our capabilities that I'm eager to accept," said Lilly Software Associates (LSA) CEO Dick Lilly, about his company's sale to NASA. LSA is best known for VISUAL Manufacturing®, the ERP/APS solution, and VISUAL Quality®, a new suite of products developed in cooperation with IQS, Inc.
The challenge Lilly refers to is meeting the stringent quality requirements of NASA's space shuttle project. The NASA division that purchased VISUAL Manufacturing fabricates miscellaneous hardware for the Space Shuttle, Space Station and other NASA programs. These specialty, engineer-to-order parts must meet stringent military specifications, as well as the quality requirements of ISO 9001 certification.
NASA evaluated several high-end manufacturing softwares, "But when we showed them VISUAL Quality, that clinched the deal," said Dave Lonadier of VISUAL South, a Lilly Software reseller. "They told us we had the most comprehensive quality system they'd seen." VISUAL Quality was created in cooperation with IQS, Inc., the recognized industry leader in the design, implementation, maintenance, and automation of business performance systems.
VISUAL Quality has the advantage of integration with the VISUAL Manufacturing suite. Integration eliminates redundant data entry while ensuring accuracy and consistency.
The NASA division in question is located at the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and operates a large machine shop with several pieces of Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) equipment. The installation will accommodate
50 users of VISUAL Manufacturing.
