Lilly Software Announces First Custom Server Sale; Joseph Machining Purchases ERP Preloaded on AS/400
28 April 1999, HAMPTON, N.H.(BUSINESS WIRE) - Lilly Software Associates, Inc., best known for the ERP/APS solution VISUAL Manufacturing(R), announces the first sale of an IBM AS/400e server preloaded with VISUAL Manufacturing.
The customer is Joseph Machine Company Inc. of Dillsburg, PA, makers of specialty machinery for the window manufacturing industry.
Joseph Machining was motivated by the uniqueness of this preloaded system: VISUAL Manufacturing on AS/400e differs from other preloaded AS/400 servers in offering concurrent scheduling of materials and resources, a technology patented by Lilly Software in the US. Joseph Machining also cited the now legendary reliability of the AS/400 server as a motivator. The company will use the AS/400 server to run its manufacturing operation, and as both a web server and a firewall for business
applications.
The sale was made through Technology Works, Lilly's distributor located in West Chester, PA.
IBM issued a statement on the joint solution, saying that "The Lilly Software package is an excellent addition to our ERP offerings, given its superior price performance for businesses, from the small business up through the midrange."
