Lilly Software Claims Record Fast ERP/Distribution System Install
24 August 99: Hampton, NH - Lilly Software Associates, Inc. announces that the second installation of its combined ERP/Warehouse Management System has gone live, and in record time. The implementation from start to finish, including data conversion, training, process re-engineering and acceptance testing, was a short three months, "And as far as I know, that's some kind of industry record," said Stanley Chew, Lilly Software's Distribution Product Manager.
The customer, Blue Ridge Designs Inc. of Boone, NC, purchased VISUAL Distribution®, which includes both warehouse management and front-office business management functionality. Together, the systems integrate a company's supply chain from its core business systems through its distribution operations. Blue Ridge needed VISUAL Distribution implemented well in advance of the shipping season for the Christmas rush. The company's "Rock Santa" was Macy's top-selling gift item in the Christmas season of '98, and Blue Ridge Design has projected a leap in sales to $30 million for 1999.
Chew credits the product first for the rapid implementation. "A three-month implementation of ERP plus WMS demonstrates the completeness of our application, and the multi-distribution center site architecture," said Chew.
"A typical implementation of an ERP/WMS combination for a midsized company like Blue Ridge is no less than nine months, and more often twelve," said Chew. "This has been a great install."
Chew further credits the customer, his own implementation team, and VISUAL South, Lilly Software's Concord, North Carolina-based distributor. "The people at Blue Ridge put the right personnel in place, and worked the kind of hours they needed to meet that aggressive schedule. They in turn received strong support from our application engineers and product specialists."
Blue Ridge Designs, a two-year old, distributor of novelty and gift items, will use VISUAL Distribution - Front Office at its Boone, NC headquarters, and VISUAL Distribution - Warehouse at its three distribution centers. The Front Office module provides advanced Order Entry Management (OEM) functions for companies with diverse distribution channels shipping from single to multiple distribution centers. Front Office integrates with Lilly Software's flagship VISUAL Manufacturing ERP product. The Warehouse module incorporates a four-wall warehouse management system (WMS) featuring best-of-breed RF enabled functionality for the manufacturer/distributor or wholesale distributor. The system provides resource optimization planning and task direction.
