Lilly Software and Works.com Partner to Deliver Online Purchase Automation to Mid-market Manufacturers and Distributors
6 March 2000, Hampton, NH (USA), and Austin, TX - Lilly Software Associates (LSA), a leading provider of supply chain management solutions, and Works.com, the leading Internet business purchasing service, today announced a partnership to deliver online purchasing automation to LSA's mid-market manufacturing and distribution customers. The partnership will allow LSA customers to use Works.com to automate the purchasing of over 30,000 business products and receive Fortune 100 volume discounts on the products they use most.
As part of the agreement, Lilly Software and Works.com have established an online procurement site, accessible at www.works.com/lilly, designed specifically for LSA customers. Through the site, Lilly customers can access Works.com to automate the purchasing of their business products. The two companies will also integrate Lilly's VISUAL Financials application with the Works.com purchasing service, allowing customers to electronically download invoices generated on the Works.com service into their Lilly accounting system. This greatly reduces data entry time, increases accuracy and streamlines the reconciliation process. LSA customers will also have access to the Works.com Cooperative Buying Program, which gives members Fortune 100 volume discounts on the business products they use most, helping to cut their monthly supplies spending by up to 30 percent.
According to Scott S. Rich, Lilly’s Vice President of Marketing, this partnership will allow Lilly Software to complement and expand its e-business offerings and will provide significant cost savings to its customers. “The Works.com partnership not only allows our customers to automate an essential business process, it also gives them the clout of mass purchasing,” said Rich. “This means they have access to discounts that would otherwise not be available to them because of their lower purchasing volume.”
“Works.com and Lilly Software are making it simple for mid-market manufacturing and distribution companies to receive the tremendous benefits of purchasing automation without the costs or complexities of procurement software,” said Martin Neath, Works.com president and chief operating officer. “That, combined with access to Fortune 100 volume discounts through our Cooperative Buying Program, delivers a powerful purchasing solution that revolutionizes the way small and midsize companies buy business products.”

Works.com dramatically reduces this processing time and expense by managing purchasing online. Forrester Research predicts that business-to-business sites, like Works.com, will save the average company 18 percent to 45 percent through quicker ordering, speedier delivery, fewer errors, better information and more opportunities to find the lowest-priced products and services.
