Version 2.0 of VISUAL DCMS Rivals Best-of-Breed WMS
06 September 2000, Hampton, NH (USA) — Release 2.0 of VISUAL DCMS, Lilly Software Associates’ advanced Radio Frequency-enabled Warehouse Management System (WMS), is finding success against best-of-breed WMS competitors and receiving strong support from industry analysts.
In the AMR Research Alert on Supply Chain Management and Enterprise Applications for September 5, 2000, Chris Newton reviewed Lilly Software’s latest DCMS release: “This release enhances the product’s capabilities in lot, serial number, and expiration date control. However, the notable feature of Release 2.0 is new functionality to support Third Party Logistics (3PL) providers that includes multi-owner inventory management and third-party billing. With DCMS, Lilly has developed one of the most sophisticated WMS applications of any ERP vendor and one that can rival the functionality found in many best-of-breed WMS products.”
The enhancements in Release 2.0 extend the usability of VISUAL DCMS across various industries including food processing, pharmaceuticals, textiles, aerospace, and automotive. The new features and extensive support for 3PL providers allow companies to:
- Manage cost inventory within a warehouse
- Accumulate activity and storage by customer within a warehouse to support 3PL billing
- Use rules-based formulas in the new Rate Maintenance application to automate customer billing for any mix of activity and storage in the Distribution Center
Additionally, the new release provides the platform for VISUAL TMS, Lilly Software’s integrated transportation and parcel management system. VISUAL TMS enables companies to use a single system for their carrier rate shopping and manifesting needs.
VISUAL DCMS is part of Lilly Software’s VISUAL Distribution® product line, which offers companies the tools to optimize their distribution centers and improve cycle times, on-time deliveries, and customer satisfaction. The expanded functionality of VISUAL DCMS and the addition of VISUAL TMS strengthens the VISUAL Distribution product, offering customers e-fulfillment capabilities and improved control over their warehouse operations.
