Shields Bag and Printing Co. Selects Lilly Software Associates for its Distribution Solution
19 April, 2000, Hampton, NH (USA) - Understanding the importance of on-time delivery and efficient distribution, Shields Bag and Printing Company has partnered with Lilly Software Associates to automate its new distribution center in Yakima, Washington.
Shields, a leading manufacturer of specialty bag and printing products, employs innovative manufacturing techniques and packaging solutions for a variety of industries, which is why it selected VISUAL Distribution from Lilly Software. With Lilly’s advanced Radio Frequency-enabled Warehouse Management System, VISUAL DCMS, the company will be able to provide real-time information about customer orders and inventory throughout its supply chain. Accurate data and quick response processing will allow Shields to react immediately to its customers’ needs, improving communication and service.
Shields’ new distribution center was designed with the aid of Tompkins Associates, a leader in Total Operations consulting and implementation. Lilly Software recently formed a strategic alliance with Tompkins Associates, strengthening its ability to serve the wholesale distribution marketplace with its VISUAL Distribution suite of products. This alliance allows Lilly Software to provide its customers with rapid and comprehensive supply chain solution implementation, helping them put new technologies in place quickly to surpass their competition. The Tompkins design used by Shields focused on the company’s material handling capabilities, helping to optimize inventory movement and space utilization, labor planning, and resource management. With VISUAL DCMS, Shields can expertly track and manage inventory throughout their warehouse from receipt to shipping, fulfilling orders in a cost-effective manner.
Shields Bag and Printing operations are slated to go live October 1st, 2000.
